Does Your Pharmacy Recycle?
Whether you’re a stand-alone pharmacy or a hospital with multiple internal pharmacies – you’ve got A LOT of boxes and plastic containers. Boxes are perfect to divert as single-stream recycling! We recently rolled out a customized program throughout a large hospital’s pharmacy. Of the 18 workstations that we assessed in the pharmacy, we were able to remove 15 unnecessary trash cans (don’t worry, they were reused in a different unit) and added 12 new recycle bins with green bags! To make sure the staff was fully informed about the changes, we held 6 in-services and educated a total of 67 people. In the end, we increased recycling from zero to 80% in only 3 months!
