Reflections on Waste Expo 2025
After a whirlwind few days in Las Vegas, Waste Expo 2025 reminded us that only through collaboration can we solve our most pressing waste issues.
Walking the floor at Waste Expo is an experience in and of itself. Only in Vegas do they have the space for all of the largescale equipment and trucks.
This year, we were honored to present at the Healthcare Waste Conference portion of the Expo. We shared insights into what healthcare decision makers are looking for from haulers to achieve sustainability.
We also attended our first Healthcare Waste Institute meeting after becoming members and look forward to participating in this industry group dedicated to facilitating responsible healthcare waste management.
It was encouraging to see a continued focus on organics. From composting technologies to policy discussions, the industry is clearly recognizing the importance and complexity of managing organic waste.
One topic that sparked a lot of conversation (and concern) was the growing threat of lithium batteries in the waste stream. Fires, safety risks, and contamination are becoming all too common. It’s clear we need greater collaboration between policy makers, product manufacturers, consumers, haulers, and disposal sites to solve this concern.
What makes Waste Expo truly worthwhile is the opportunity to grow and strengthen relationships across the industry. There’s no substitute for face-to-face dialogue when it comes to solving shared challenges and opportunities.
If you find yourself in Vegas… do yourself a favor and book an outside table at Ocean Prime. The food is phenomenal and the patio offers a perfect escape above the buzz of the strip.
